Chick-Flick Movie Challenge!

I’m a proud member of Her Campus, an online magazine by college women, for college women, and in my newsletter, I got a listicle (list, article, listicle, it’s a cute lil portmanteau) from June 3, 2017, called “The 30 Best Chick Flicks of All Time.” It was written by Alexis Benveniste, who was an editorial intern at Her Campus and a student at Indiana University during her time writing for Her Campus.

I love movies, and I’m definitely pro-chick-flick. People like to hate on them, but I like to think of the term “chick-flick” as a nice way to sum up movies where the target audience is women. Not saying men can’t enjoy them, it’s just nice to have a genre that I can reliably turn to, knowing it’s geared towards my demographic. That being said, I, unfortunately, haven’t seen many. I definitely haven’t seen a lot of the chick-flick staples on Alexis’s list.

I’m deciding to fix that! June is almost here, and to kick off the summer season I’m going to be watching one chick-flick every day for the month of June. 30 movies, 30 days, it’s perfect!

I’m then going to blog about the experience. I’m going to post my thoughts on each of the movies. I’m not a professional movie critique by any means, but I think it would be a fun and challenging way to stay up-to-date on my blog, especially as it’s transitioning from a literature blog to more of a lifestyle blog.

I’m planning to watch the movies, obviously, with a 2019-perspective. It could prove to be interesting with some of the older movies. I’m going to see if there’s anything we can get from these movies from a 2019 viewpoint.
